"Matrix" accepted for WAS-H 33rd Annual International Exhibition

I'm so excited that this painting was accepted by juror, Frank Webb, AWS (DF) NWS, for the 33rd Annual International Exhibit at (WAS-H) Watercolor Art Society - Houston. One hundred paintings were selected from the 466 that were submitted.

Mr. Webb has worked as a professional artist since 1947, he has received more than 90 major awards including an AWS Dolphin Fellowship. The final awards will be determined by Frank Webb on March 7th, when he views the original paintings in Houston.

The 33rd Annual Exhibition will be on display at WAS-H Gallery in Houston, at 1601 W. Alabama. The show hangs from March 6th through April 9th, with the opening reception on March 12th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The awards presentation will commence at 7:00 pm. I would love to see you there if you get a chance to stop by to view this fantastic show and wish me luck.

Messages from Beyond

I submitted this painting to Hunting Oil LLC search for this years Texas Artist competition. They will announce the finalists pretty soon and I'm excitedly waiting on word that this painting made it thru the first level. It's titled "Messages from Beyond". I hope they see a lot in it that the like very much. I know there is a lot in it for sure.

It is definitely a high energy painting. I feel like it's going to be part of a series of Chakra paintings. Chakra's are energy centers that govern the body. They are located along the spine and since they are energy "wheels" they are not physically seen.

This painting represents the 1st Chakra - the root or base chakra. It's location is at the base of the spine and governs the physical dimension by helping to keep you grounded and feeling safe and secure. It also is the center for that "fight or flight" feeling and if it's balanced properly the grounding, safe, secure feeling overcome you feeling of fight or flight fear. It vibrates as your adrenal glands and governs the kidneys and spinal column since the spine is your body's grounding, secure element to which it connects. It's major color is Red.

WFSW Entries - Keeping Fingers (and toes) Crossed for Good Luck

"Wisdom"

"As a Mind Thinketh"

"Your Inner Doors"

Entered these three in the 35th Annual Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFSW) Exhibition. Submitted my entries through Southwestern Watercolor Society (SWS). You have to be a member of one of the societies in the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies and can enter through one society only. WFWS includes over 4,500 artists in ten regional watercolor societies and guilds.

Carla O'Connor will be the judge. So exciting. She only has to like one of these. Putting in all abstracts this time. Won't hear anything until end of January but that's okay with me. I have several other deadlines at the end of this month so I'm happily working away on those entries too.

If you click the Southwestern Watercolor Society link about you can see all the exhibitors for the 46th SWS Members Exhibition -including mine - yeaaaaa.

Love Those Art Supplies

I set up an Amazon store for art supplies on my blog that I thought we would all love and appreciate.  I had the best time going through and picking the supplies.  It was almost like I was painting and then too, getting to order all these wonderful colors and items for myself.  Just going through looking all of them over was like a creative shot in the arm for me.  I'm notorious for buying art supplies and I love tons of different colors in all mediums so I was very satisfied with myself for having all the fun of the shopping experience and not having to personally spend all the money.  I know it's probably lame to the non-painter out there but the painter can relate I believe.

I'm still going to add more items, such as pastels, for easy and convenience of everyone but for now, I'm okay with what's there.  Have a look see for yourself.  Actually, I usually get my supplies from other on-line vendors and did not realize Amazon had so much to chose from and at such a good price. I guess it's because they are hidden, as least I think so.  Nothing listed under art so therefore the search for the items I wanted to include was a bit intense. But, from now on I'm going the Amazon route first when I need to add to my "stash".

I have included a link here but you can also find it easily on both my Studio Retreat Blog and my Madalyn Kennedy.com website page at FASO.  Even if you don't think you need anything right now, get that refreshing shot of creative juices stirring by just looking around in there.  Great times!!

Amazing - Already Time to Think About The Holidays

I can't hardly believe how fast this year has gone and I do know that the next time we blink we will right in the middle of all the holiday hustle and bustle. I put together a few poinsettia gift ideas on my new zazzle showroom. I love poinsettia designs for decorating at holiday season. I posted a picture on one of the designs on this blog. If you can't see it, just go to http://www.zazzle.com/madalynkgifts* and you can see the poinsettias and much more. I put a few kids items in the showroom that I really like too. Everything can be interchanged so if you find something that you would like to see on a different piece just let me know. In fact, I would love to hear from you with your feedback about the new showroom.

WAS-H
members show is coming up and entries are the first Fri and Sat of October. Think I'll take Magnolia Fantasy and The Garden's Secret Surprise. I would love for one of the to be accepted. And don't worry, I will definitely let you know what happens.
